School Visits
  • Explore Writing
  • Spark Creativity
  • Create Young Authors

Want to get your students excited about reading and writing? My programs are designed to inspire and stimulate by being engaging, educational, and, above all, fun! You’ll be surprised by your student’s newfound desire to express themselves through writing.

Programs

Here are examples of some very popular programs. If your school has other, specific requirements, contact me to tailor a program to suit your needs.

Program #1: "Where Do Authors Come From?" and “The Ins and Outs of Publishing" Presentation: 1 hour (all grade levels) Learn all about how writers become authors, and what it takes to become one yourself. Followed by learning the process of getting a book published from start to finish.

Program #2: "Writing Workshop" Presentation: 1 hour (2 hour option available) A hands on workshop for kids in grades 3 and up. Learn story starters, brainstorming ideas, story structure, as well as coming away with a story of their own in only one workshop.
Program #3: "Turning a True Life Event Into a Story" Presentation: 1 hour (all grade levels) Travel to Guatemala by slide show and see how to turn a true life event into a fiction story!

Program #4: Classroom Q&A, 1 hour. Students have an opportunity to ask questions and interact with the author in an informal and comfortable setting.

Program #5: Evening Presentation for Parents and Family. School Book Fairs and Young Author Nights are the perfect setting to invite a real author. Get ready for a night of inspiration, learning and personalized autographs.

Program #6: Young Author Emmy Awards Ceremony. One or two hour options, afternoon or evening. Invite a real author to help host your Young Author’s awards ceremony! This is a perfect setting for inviting parents and grandparents to cheer the kids on. Renee loves to dress up in fun, glitzy get ups, and is available to MC an afternoon or evening dedicated to celebrating award winning young authors. This can tie in perfectly with wrapping up your school’s Young Author week or writing events. The teachers choose the stories to be honored and Renee will present the students with the awards. Letting students dress up as one of the characters in their story is also a fun option. Award winning authors may share a brief reading of their work as time allows. Cookies and punch is also a nice way to add to the celebration.

Included with all visits: Lunch with the Author /Autographing / Book Signing. Students have their books personally autographed to them, creating a keepsake and souvenir of the author event.
